Cancer of the cervix is the 12th most common cancer in the UK, but the second most common cancer in women under 35 after breast cancer.
In the UK, around 2,800 women are diagnosed with it each year and because the symptoms of cervical cancer are not always obvious, many women present with it at an advanced stage.
